Aoraki National Park

Aoraki is the original Maori name of Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand. Mmh you might say, that rings a bell. It does indeed. Last time we saw Mount Cook from the west side of the divide. Then we drove to the south and back up to Mount Cook but on the east side.

Unfortunately, when we got there, we discovered that the weather forecast was very bad. So we didn't manage to go hiking up there in the mountains. But still, we enjoyed the views before the rain set in...

On the way to Aoraki we drove along Lake Pukaiki.

This big cloud would soon put us in a bit of a pickle, dare I say.

Note the size of both signs. Ducks are more important than people in this region.

A church on Lake Tekapo.
